Upcoming Painting Workshop:
CASTLE OF PARK, SCOTLAND
June
5-12, 2004
Painting the Scottish
Landscape
The
beautiful and historic Castle of Park, hidden away in a secluded
tree-lined park near the Moray coast in North-east Scotland,
has gained a fine reputation for warm hospitality, great food
and elegant accommodation. This castle will be our location during
a wonderful week of painting in Scotland. Park is famous for
it's first-rate painting courses and g.a. Sheller will be it's
first American instructor.
The Castle is set in some 35 acres of park and woodland.
There is evidence of 18th and 19th Century formal plantings,
with many old specimen trees,
including some fine beeches. The wild wood is magical, a haven for wildlife,
including shy roe deer. More than 30 different species of birds
have been spotted in the grounds.
The Castle, its park and the surrounding
scenery -- cliffs and sandy beaches, rolling hills, historic
castles, distilleries, fishing villages and harbours, salmon
rivers -- all contain thousands of subjects just waiting to be
painted.
You'll be taken to venues such as the beautifully
preserved village of Fordyce (tiny castle, ancient kirkyard,
joiner's workshop museum, harp maker's
studio), Portsoy (17th century harbour, sea views), Cullen
(views over the Moray Firth, railway viaducts, fishermen's
cottages) and to the banks and braes of the Deveron, a premier
Scottish salmon river. And with the expert guidance of g.a.
Sheller to help you all day, you will be amazed how your painting skills will
improve .
The painting courses at Castle of Park are designed
to help both experienced painters and beginners to make
the most of their abilities and, most of all, ENJOY their painting.
The accent will be on working from nature: particularly landscapes
and marine subjects.
